Hometown Heroes

During the weekend long celebration of my birthday I went to see the Detroit Lions kick some Tampa Bay Buccaneer ass. During a TV timeout in the third quarter they brought several military personal to the end zone to honor them as Hometown Heroes. This was really cool. Then they pushed a man out in a wheelchair that was missing both legs. They announced that Sgt. Philip LaBonte would receive the Purple Heart. LaBonte, who lost his legs and an eye while fighting in Iraq, is a huge Lions Fan. His prosthetic eye has a Lions insignia on it. It was a very touching moment to see a hero receive such a prestigious award like that. I am proud to have witnessed it. Reminds you that the battle on the field isn’t important at all, the real battle is being fought by heroes like this one. What really bothers me is that it wasn’t seen on TV. It should have been.

Thank you Sgt. LaBonte.

Pepper

I like to use pepper on just about everything I eat, especially fries, mmm! One thing that bothers me to no end is when restaurants fill pepper shakers to the top. I know that they just want to make sure they aren't ever empty but when they top 'em off every night they make it impossible to use because it won't shake out. ARG!
